RUFbus & Winter Shuttle Semmering-Rax
Stress-free travel for hotel and accommodation guests to and from train stations, accommodation, hiking trails, and other tourist destinations.
Take a trip into nature of the Semmering-Rax region in car-free comfort. No traffic jams, no tediously searching for a car park- the holiday starts here on arrival. The RUFbus and our Winter Shuttle Semmering-Rax serves as a tourist mobility solution in the region. Our share-taxis can be booked in advance to bring you to your destination and helps you enjoy a car-free holiday.
As a hotel or accommodation guest, you can travel with us for free between any of the over 120 stops in and around the towns Reichenau/Rax, Payerbach, Gloggnitz, Schottwien, Semmering and Breitenstein. Perfect for the beginning or end of hiking paths, to train stations, or to your accommodation. A map including all stops can be found here. Booking is required in advance.
Journeys with the RUFbus can be booked between 9.00 – 17.00. During the winter season, our Winter Shuttle drives along a fixed route according to a timetable. This can be downloaded here, or found in participating hotels.
How can I book a trip?
Bookings must be made in advance. The earlier you book the more likely we will be able to pick you up at the desired time. Bookings can be made via our Hotline +43 660 900 88 22 (daily from 9:00 - 16:00 Uhr), or in participating hotels and accommodations. During the winter season, booking via the Postbus Shuttle-App is not possible.
For short trips under 10 km, please book at least 1 h in advance; for longer trips over 10 km, you must book at least 24 h in advance. For the Winter Shuttle, please book by 16:00 on the day before. We note that Booking times and service availability are dependent on road conditions; we cannot guarantee bookings in times of high demand.
How much is a ticket?
The RUFbus and Winter Shuttle is free for hotel and accommodation guests with the MobilityCard+ (MobilitätsCard+). You receive this card when you check into your accommodation; please show it to the driver.
For day guests in the region:
Although we can only service hotel guests during the Winter Season, we hope you too can enjoy a car-free stay in our region. Information for public transport can be found here. Public buses run regularly from the train stations in Gloggnitz and Payerbach-Reichenau into the Semmering-Rax Region. For example, Bus 341 travels to the Rax cable car, and then further into the Höllental valley, Bus 342 travels to the Preiner Gscheid pass, and Bus 343 travels from Gloggnitz up to Semmering via Maria Schutz.
